Drexel University is the perfect place to study. Whether you decide to come here for the co-op opportunities or the city campus, there’s something here for everyone.

Quarter system

Honestly, don’t let the quarter system scare you away. There are pros and cons to the quarter system, but the pros can definitely outweigh the cons. If you hate a class or a professor, it goes by really fast and before you know it, finals are over and you can take new classes next term. Yes, the system is fast-paced, but it gives you an opportunity to take a lot of classes you actually want to take.

Co-op

The co-op opportunities are so important and a convenient way to gain experience before graduating. One of the reasons I decided to come here (besides my financial aid package) was the co-op experience I would be getting. You get to work full-time for six months at a time (no, you don’t have to pay tuition) and get the experience you need. By the time you graduate, you’ll have at least one co-op experience under your belt. You can even work full-time for your co-op after you graduate if they hire you.

City life

Philadelphia is a great city, with so many things to do. Whether you want to go ice skating, shop at one of the biggest malls in the country, or go to the Magic Gardens, the possibilities are endless. Nightlife here is pretty great too; you can go to Penn or Temple’s campus and hang there if you really want to.

Food trucks

Okay, I’m going to be honest. The food at Drexel is not good. But, the food near Drexel makes up for it. There are a ton of food trucks around campus, so you can never go hungry. Whether you’re in the mood for a bagel or Halal, the food trucks can satisfy your hunger, no problem. There’s no way that you can’t find something for your specific craving at the time.

Not just for STEM

Drexel may be known for being an engineering school, but there are so many majors this university has to offer. Whether you’re interested in fashion or international business, chances are, Drexel University has something for you. Along with a ton of diverse majors, there are a lot of minors as well. By working with your academic advisor, you can even double major in areas that interest you but aren’t necessarily in the same area.

Diversity

Philadelphia has a lot of people of color and inclusivity is supported here. About half of the freshman class this year includes people of color and there are a lot of organizations that promote diversity.

Drexel University is a great institution that focuses on bettering the students. The school wants you to be civically engaged and have job experience before you actually go and start your real career. Diversity is something Drexel supports and being right in the city makes it easy to improve the demographics. With so many areas of study, the chances Drexel has something for you is pretty large. This university has so many opportunities and deciding to go here is definitely a good idea.
