We all love to stay connected with the world whether it’s through pictures, videos, or random posts. There’s an array of social media in the world, but with the current updates, people don’t seem to happy with the apps anymore (*cough cough* Snapchat). Here’s a list of my top five social media to use, in order to keep connected with my friends and family, as well as just documenting my life.
5. Facebook
In my opinion, the hype of Facebook has hyped down drastically since the older generations, like our parents and grandparents, took over it. It’s simply because Facebook is easy to use, and it keeps them entertained. Facebook was developed in 2004 and became popular in 2008. People who were 13 years or older, or said they were, were allowed to access this app. Facebook is definitely the pioneer for other social medias.
4. Snapchat
Developed in 2011, Snapchat has come a long way from what it once was, and there’s a big controversy over it. The first Snapchat allowed you to see other people’s best friend list and send pictures to your friends. In 2013, Snapchat introduced the Stories and Discover aspects of the app. Stories are able to be viewed by whoever you want, and Discover is similar to reading magazines, but virtually. The current update of Snapchat in 2018 has created controversy over it. At first, the update was really confusing because Stories and snaps are on the same page, and Discover has its own page. Although very difficult to use now, Snapchat is still an app I will continue to use.
3. Instagram
Instagram was created on October 10, 2010. Similar to Facebook, Instagram lets you post pictures with captions, as well as comment on other people’s post. When the older generations overtook Facebook, the younger ones turned to Instagram. Although there was controversy over the Stories feature on Instagram, that is similar to Snapchat, in 2017, Instagram had over 800 million users.
2. VSCO
This app is still on the up and coming, although created in 2011. Not many people know about VSCO but the ones who do, love it. VSCO is considered a blend between Instagram and Twitter. It allows you to document your life through pictures, but does not allow comments; however, it allows followers to favorite and republish your pictures.
1. Twitter
Twitter will always be the queen of all social media. Created in March 2006, Twitter has 300 million users per month. Twitter allows you to post pictures, videos, rants, or just retweet anything that’s relatable. It consists of funny, controversial, world, and relatable posts. Without Twitter, I would not be able to get through my day. Twitter’s recent update has made the limit of words in a post from 140 to 280, making every one of their users happy. Keep doing what you’re doing, Twitter!
