FSU to Host Advanced Screening of ‘A Quiet Place’

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at FSU chapter.

This coming week, on April 3, Florida State’s Student Life Center Cinema will be hosting an advanced screening of the new acclaimed horror film, A Quiet Place.

Rated PG-13, A Quiet Place stars husband and wife John Krasinski (who also directed and help write the film) and Emily Blunt as Evelyn and Lee Abbott as they try to navigate their lives in silence after mysterious creatures arrive that hunt by sound, doing everything they can to keep their children alive. Per usual, the advanced screening at the SLC is free for FSU students, but to enter the theater guests must have picked up advanced screening passes—they are not unlimited—at the help desk right across from the movie theater’s front door.

The advanced screening is being held three days before the film’s theatrical release, so the lucky students who are able to get a pass and a seat have a huge advantage over the average movie-going public. The film currently holds a 100 percent rating on Rotten Tomatoes with reviews commending its original creature bad guy, its simple story of survival and the blossoming directing chops of Krasinski. This is the first time that Blunt and Krasinski have ever starred alongside each other in a film despite having been married since 2010.

Doors open to the screening on Tuesday, April 3 at 6 p.m. but make sure to get there as early as you can. This showing is bound to be popular and just because you managed to nab one of the advanced screening passes does not mean you are guaranteed a seat. The seating is strictly first-come-first-serve so be sure to plan accordingly. Also be sure not to forget your FSU I.D. and a couple bucks to buy some candy or a soda at the concession stand inside. The 95-minute-long movie will start promptly at seven p.m.
