We are teaming up with the Emerson softball team in order to let you all know about the crazy awesome thing they’re doing! As you all know, April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month, and Emerson’s softball team is taking a stand in the fight. Make sure to join them on Friday, April 13th at both 3:00 pm and 5:00 pm. They’ll be facing off with Smith College at Rotch Playground.
It is the team’s second Sexual Assault Awareness Game, and they are trying to raise awareness that sexual assault affects everyone. According to RAINN (Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network), 1 in 6 women and 1 in 33 men will experience sexual assault in their lifetime, which essentially means that every person is likely to know someone who has been assaulted. The softball team is not only trying to end the stigma, but they are raising money for RAINN to help provide support for victims of sexual assault. Thanks to Off-Campus Student Services, Shake Shack will be catering the event and the Student Athlete Advisory Committee is providing cookies! In addition to raising money for the cause, both Smith and Emerson will be wearing teal shirts in honor of Sexual Assault Awareness Month during pre-game.
While there is no entry fee for the game, the Emerson softball team hopes that you will consider donating to RAINN to help their efforts. If you are not able to donate, the team asks that you share as many links as possible to help raise awareness for their game, in hopes that others will donate to RAINN as well.
On behalf of Her Campus Emerson, I would like to take a quick moment to wish our softball team the very best of luck in their game, and thank them for all the support they are giving to Sexual Assault Awareness.
