If the weather in Ohio ever decides to stay warm (and that’s big emphasis on the “if”), there are some fun new fashion trends that you have to check out. Below, I’ve listed my top five favorite styles that have been popping up. From Pinterest to Instagram to Pitaya on High Street, these are what girls are loving right now.
1. Mules
Despite the fact that my little sister and the boys down the hall tell me they look like “pilgrim shoes,” I am a huge fan of these slip-ons. They’re comfortable and easy without looking too casual. I personally own black ones with gold accents, but the embroidered or heeled ones are super cute too!
2. Fun Hemlines
Designers are really changing up the hemlines on jeans, which takes simple denim to a new creative level. Frayed, “stair step” (pictured below) and raw hems are taking over Levi’s, Topshop and Nordstrom. I love that you can throw them on with a simple T-shirt and still look like your outfit took some planning.
3. Culottes
These pants have become increasingly popular over the past couple seasons, and I think this summer is going to be huge for them. I don’t own a pair, but they look incredibly comfortable. I’d say they’re a classy step-up from the gauchos we all hate to admit we wore in fifth grade.
4. Gingham
This print is another trend that is becoming increasingly common. I’ve seen dresses, pants, blouses and even shoes in this checkered pattern. Most of the gingham is in black and white, but I’ve also seen sea-foam green, navy and pastel pink. Personally, I’m more of a neutral fan, but whatever you like, you can rock! 5. Graphic T-shirts
I don’t think graphic tees really ever went out of style, but they are definitely having a moment right now. What’s fun about these is that you can find one that says literally anything, so there is a shirt for everyone! The most popular prints right now seem to have a vintage feel, going right along with the fact that the 90’s are very in right now.
I think it’s so fun to figure out which styles are popular by watching what celebrities and people in big cities are wearing. There are definitely more than these five, so go out and see what else is trending!
