With finals week approaching, most people can already feel the stress sinking in. The constant debate to either study now or give up completely is in the back of everyone’s mind. Well I’m here to give you five tips on how to stay ahead of your finals.

STUDY!

As simple as it may seem, many of us fail to study. We get caught up with final papers, packing for move out, or just enjoying our last few weeks with our friends.

Studying seems to be the last thing on all our minds towards the end of the school year. Simply taking the time to sit down at the library and study for 30 minutes to an hour for each class will go a surprisingly long way.

Do a practice exam

With the internet at our fingertips, it is not hard to find a practice exam online. Personally, I either make or search for a Quizlet and do many of those practice tests until I feel I’ve got all the info down.

If searching for tests on the internet isn’t really your thing, then ask your professor. Go to their office hours and see if they could give you a practice test.

Meet with your professors

Following up on going to your professor’s office hours, just simply talk to them. Tell them what you are struggling with and see if they can help. Most of the time they will sit with you and answer any questions you may have. Believe it or not, they want you to pass their class.

Take breaks

Don’t put all this pressure on yourself to study. Taking breaks to eat, nap, or hangout with friends can be very beneficial. This way your brain can get a second to breathe and also process all the information you just shoved into it.

Exam week is stressful enough, don’t add onto the stress. Give yourself time to heal. Your mental health comes first.

Sleep regularly

Although we were always told to get 8 hours of sleep, with all the stress from school, college students really need 9-10 hours of rest a night.

Making sure you are getting that sleep will make you more awake and prepared in the morning. This way your body and mind will be active enough to retain all the information you’re throwing at it.

Good luck on your exams!
