Happiness is different for everyone but it is the key to life. My freshman year and even into my sophomore year happiness was something that was harder for me to come by. I felt alone and had very high expectations for what I thought college would be.

I had so many people tell me that college would be the best time of my life but most days it felt like the worst. I was homesick, uncomfortable and was trying to just make it through every day by counting down the hours. All that got me was more worry and more stress than necessary.

Over the summer I began to let go of things I could not control. I began to choose what was making me happy and stop caring about what other people thought or expected of me. Choosing to spend time with myself, spend time in the word, take a long bath, take a walk with my dog or lay on the couch watching Youtube videos. It is the little things that matter. The things that make you happy are things that are important. Other people cannot control what makes you happy!

Being yourself and letting go of expectations will be what changes your perspective on who you are and how you feel.

So my cheesy advice would be:

1. Do what you love.

 2. Let go of expectations

3. Be yourself because it is so much easier.

 4. Laugh often and abundantly.

5. Live life to your fullest and don’t let anyone tell you that you’re doing it wrong.

Life is hard but it can be so much fun if you just let go and live. Make the right choices and live your best life.Â
