Being a Her Campus writer for your college’s chapter brings about a lot of benefits. Undoubtedly, it’s a great opportunity for you to enhance your writing skills and increase your creativity.

It’s a way to establish your own credential and sharing information and knowledge based on your own opinions and experience. There’s another interesting benefit of writing articles for Her Campus, which is FREE STUFF. To show their appreciation, Her Campus occasionally send boxes of goodies to our Chapter. The first box we have for this semester was full of Garnier products, one of my favorite skin care brands. So today, I’m going to give a brief review of the products we received.

The small white box came with 1 mini bottle of Garnier SkinActive Micellar Cleansing Water All-in-1 Makeup Remover (imagine saying its full name every time), 3 Garnier Fructis 1 Minute Hair Mask, and 1 sample of Garnier SkinActive Soothing Facial Mist.

We all know that the people are obsessed with micellar water these days and I believe we all should be. Out of the 3 products, micellar water is the one I have been using before and I don’t intend to replace it with another makeup remover. I use it to wipe off all the makeup I have, even the waterproof ones, and I’m always happy with the results. Only a few cotton pads of micellar water will cleanse off the majority of the makeup on my face. It’s not 100% clean, but it’s always better to follow up with facial wash to completely remove your makeup even after using the makeup remover. The best thing about micellar water is that it gives your skin a damp and moisturizing feeling, instead of feeling too oily or tight on your skin.

The next product is the Garnier SkinActive Soothing Facial Mist. I got hyped up when I read that it is mixed with rose water, only to feel disappointed later. The sprayer comes out straight on one spot and does not really mist and distribute the product evenly. Some spots get way more saturated than others, so I had to rub it all over my face like a normal moisturizer. It does have a nice smell of rose, but I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone who doesn’t like strong smells or has sensitive skin. Rosewater can potentially be irritating.

The last product is the 1 Minute Hair Mask. It was so nice that they gave each box three different masks for different purposes to try out. I have very dry hair from dying it myself, and also from washing it everyday. I dislike the oily feeling after a day of not rinsing it. My hair also falls out very easily and I’m scared I’ll get bald in the future (YIKES!).

I was hoping the hair masks will be able to treat that, or at least reduce the amount of hair falling out for me. At first, I was kinda disappointed. I used the product as leave-ins and they do make my hair smell very nice (confirmed by my boyfriend). But initially, my hair started falling out even more than before, which freaked me out a lot! Gradually, not only does my hair get stronger, the hair masks make the hair more smooth and manageable.

In conclusion, I’m still in love with the micellar water, and I think I would still try the hair masks for a couple more weeks to see if the results stay the same. However, I wouldn’t use the soothing mist anymore, because it doesn’t really do its job.

I’m a sophomore at Utica College. My major is Health Studies-PT Track, minor in Gerontology. I enjoy cool breeze, beaches, and good books. I have a long list of things I like and a longer list of things I don't like.
Meet Bianca, I am currently a Junior at Utica College in Utica, NY.  I am a Criminal Justice major with a concentration in Homeland Security.  Crime investigation has always been something that interests me.  I’m dedicated and passionate and it’s hard for me to quit things. I get that from my father so don’t hold it against me- he was a veteran and police officer for 20 years.   Growing up in a family centered around law enforcement has helped guide me in this direction, and I will forever be grateful.  After graduation I intend to continue on to law school where I can further my education in hopes of becoming a criminal defense lawyer and later on a District Attorney.  An interesting fact about myself is that I found the passion to be a criminal defense lawyer from watching the O.J. Simpson case.  The facts and conspiracy theories evoked a whole new passion behind criminal investigation that I intend to use in my future.  One of my most prominent moments in my writing career was when I wrote for an online magazine and had my most prevalent article hit 1.6k shares.  I believe in treating people with the same kind of respect and manners you would expect in return, and in a way it has helped shaped my expectations in life.   When you first meet me I won’t be the loudest in the room or the center of attention, but I will be intently listening to everything you say, for what you have to say may have a purpose. I believe in purpose. I believe that everyone is here to help you grow into who you are today and who you will be tomorrow.
