It’s finally October and if you’re anything like me that means one thing, haunted housing season! Nothing says spooky season more than gut wrenching screams in a house full of your worst nightmares. It can often be hard to find a good haunt that will be worth your time and money, so I found them for you. Get your ghouls together and go get spooked at these local haunted houses!
1. Asylum of Mad Dreams ($18) *Coupons available at select locations
Located about 45 minutes away in Cordova, IL, this haunt makes the top of the list for it’s intense, thought out, and lengthy scares. Be prepared for a long wait due to the popularity of the haunt, but refreshments, bonfires, and extra scares are offered in the wait area. The cost and wait are well worth it though, you can expect to be in this haunt for about an hour!

2. Terror at Skellington Manor ($15)
A little closer to home, this haunt is located right across the river in Rock Island, IL and offers 4 levels of spine chilling terrors. This is an indoor experience so no need to bundle up. The wait can be lengthy on some nights, but the haunted experience begins as soon as you purchase your ticket!
3. Torment at Twelve Hundred ($18)
If you like more gruesome terrors, travel to Orion, IL for this popular haunt. The actors make this torment as realistic as they can, getting inside your head to uncover your biggest fears. What makes this haunt unique is it follows a story line, which can be found on their website.
4. Factory of Fear ($15) *Discounts available
Do tight spaces frighten you? Factory of Fear in Moline, IL may be the haunt for you! The actors here are trained to be interactive and get close and personal, without touching you of course. This house is also indoors and has entertainment while you wait!

5. Charlotte Haunted House ($12)
40 minutes away in Charlotte, IA you will find a haunt with many elements intended to disorient you and increase the terror. This intense haunt will catch you when you least expect it crawling through tight spaces and maneuvering over uneven surfaces.
6. Shock House ($15)
Also in Rock Island, IL, this haunt is only about 15 minutes long and is only good on Thursday nights. Thursday nights are black out nights in the Shock House, which means you navigate the house in complete darkness with only the light of a glow stick; which is a target for the ghouls inside. New this year, try out their virtual reality experiences for $7-$10!
7. Haunted Carter Farms ($12) *Discount available
If you’re a scaredy pants and haunted houses just aren’t your thing, try this haunted corn maze in Princeton, IA. It’s 2 fall activities in 1! With less intense scares, find your way through this creepy corn maze and bonus 3-D maze. They also offer a special attraction for an extra cost of $8; zombie laser tag!
