How to Dress Like Lara Jean From ‘To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before’

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at DePauw chapter.

Within the past month, the internet has not stopped talking about Netflix’s new original hit To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before and the relationship between Peter Kavinsky and Lara Jean Covey. I mean their relationship is pretty iconic (as much as a fake relationship can be); however, I was impressed with the female lead’s underrated fashion sense. As summer is now coming to an end and the leaves are beginning to change, Lara Jean has become an inspiration to all young adults looking for a way to spice up their style.

From pink bomber jackets to knee high socks and combat boots, I want it all in my closet, but I am a college student with about $28 in my wallet. That being said, I know college students have a limited budget, but I am going to break down Lara Jean’s most iconic looks for all you over-achievers with a decent amount of money in your bank account. Hopefully, these outfits spark some inspiration for the upcoming school year, and who knows? …Maybe you will find your own Peter Kavinsky.

Saying Goodbye to Margot at the Airport:

Now that we are in between seasons, it is cool enough to wear long-sleeved turtleneck sweaters, but also warm enough to wear a fall skirt as well. However, this time period is short, so I recommend wearing longer socks or stockings if it is too cold.

Superga Cotu Sneaker, $65 nordstrom.com

Family Dinner Night:

This outfit goes especially unnoticed, in my opinion. It takes a specific and special person to rock overalls and look good doing it. This look gives me athletic yet chill vibes. It may be the dad tennis shoes…I don’t know, but I’m here for it! In this scene, Lara Jean’s secretly admiring Josh from afar, but I’m secretly admiring her for this iconic look!

UO The Big Brother Striped Tee, $20 urbanoutfitters.com

Adidas Originals Falcon Mesh, Suede and Faux Leather Sneakers, $150-net-a-porter.com

First Day of Junior Year:

In this scene, Lara Jean is finally recognized for her killer style by her best friend Chris and, more importantly, Peter K.! The sock and boot combo is an important aspect of the movie and, in my opinion, ties her entire outfit together. They are so much better than Gen’s Uggs! This outfit introduces us to the remarkableness that is Lara Jean’s fashion sense!

The Back Pocket Spin:

This is definitely one of Lara Jean’s more casual outfits; however, this look experienced the iconic “back pocket spin” by Peter, which made the whole world swoon. The yellow in her outfit matched the yellow in his outfit, which made it even more amazing, so it was impossible not to include it in her best moments.

“Let’s Do This”:

Lara Jean threw together this super girly chic and trendy get-up and tied it together with gold sneakers, a pink bomber jacket and her “favorite” scrunchie. With or without the jacket, this outfit is perfect for a regular day at school. This also just so happens to be the day that she agreed to be Peter’s fake girlfriend. Coincidence? I think not.
