For this week’s profile, meet Hannah. She’s a third year Arts student at UBC with some very interesting goals for the future and an urge to constantly try new things. She hopes to embrace her love for hiking, by going every weekend she gets a chance to!
Hometown: Born and raised in Seattle.
Major: History
What fascinates you about History: I became interested in it because I started reading historical fiction. The more I study history (especially medieval) the more I love it, because it’s like jumping into a different world, full of stories and characters waiting to be examined. I love history the way children love to play pretend games and dress up.
Goals for the next year/plans after graduation: I really want to go to graduate school in Europe, and I would also like to get more involved in media, so I can bring the stories and the critical scholarship of history to a wider audience in a fun and entertaining way!
Current song you can’t stop listening to: “Snap out of it” by Arctic Monkeys
Clubs that you are a part of or wish you’d get more involved in: I recently started contributing to the cultural section of Ubyssey, and it’s so much fun. I get to choose my own topics and express myself in the way I find best, through writing. Check them out if you can!
