The College Girl’s Guide to Las Vegas

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Xavier chapter.

Las Vegas is a super fun and exciting place, and a great place to go on a school break. Check out these fun things that every college girl won’t want to miss while she’s there.

Eat at In-N-Out

If you’ve ever had In-N-Out, you understand why it’s on this list. It is a cheap and delicious meal that’s only available in a few states. Get your burger and fries Animal Style, and thank us later.

Seven Magic Mountains

The Seven Magic Mountains is a beautiful art installation located right outside of Downtown Vegas, with the desert and mountains as the backdrop. It’s the perfect photo op, and a nice break from the hustle and bustle of the Strip.

Happy Half Hour on the High Roller

The High Roller is the world’s largest observation wheel, and provides beautiful views both during the day and at night. If you are of legal drinking age, you can spend the trip in a car with an open bar!

Café Lola

This little café is one of the most aesthetically appealing and Instagramable places in all of Vegas (in our opinion). The food is delicious, and the Froze is to die for. Plus, their coffee comes with cute messages in the foam, just waiting for you to put on your Snapchat Story. As if that isn’t enough, the whole café is covered in roses, cute sayings, and perfect picture backdrops.

See a Show

Vegas is known for its spectacular shows, and seeing one is a great addition to anyone’s Vegas trip. There is a show for everyone, and some of our favorites are Cirque Du Soleil Love (which is a Beatles themed Cirque), and Thunder Down Under.

Walk the Strip at Night…

The Vegas Strip is unlike anything else you’ve seen before. We recommend walking it at night for two reasons: so it is all lit up, and not as hot as it is during the day. There is always something to do and see!

…& Casino Hop

Even if you don’t gamble, Casino hopping is a must while in Vegas. Almost every one has a different theme, and are beautifully decorated. Plus, they are all filled with shops, restaurants, bars, and other fun things to do.

Drink a Tall Frozen Drink (While Walking the Strip)

Did you know that you can have open containers on Las Vegas Boulevard (if you are of legal drinking age, of course). This means you can take your drink from place to place, and not have to worry about getting in trouble. Pretty much every Casino sells these delicious tall, frozen drinks, that are perfect for carrying around all night (plus, they are pretty cheap! Mine was only $11).

Go to a Pool Club

Going to a pool club was one of the coolest things I’ve ever done in Vegas. We went to the XS Pool Club at the Wynn, and the Chainsmokers even showed up to DJ for a bit. It is literally a club located around (and inside) a pool. 10/10 would recommend.

Eat at the Secret Pizza Place

Located in the Cosmopolitan hotel, this secret pizza place is located down a hall filled with cool, old vinyl records. It has no name or sign, but has delicious pizza (that is pretty inexpensive).

Grab a drink at the Chandelier Bar

Also located at the Cosmo, the Chandelier Bar is simply stunning. It’s the perfect place to drink a Cosmo!

Go to Freemont Street

For a taste of Old Vegas, take a trip to Freemont Street. It’s a great place for a night out when you need a break from the Strip.
