Freshman Friday: Morgan Miller

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Georgia Southern chapter.

Let me take this time to introduce the honorable freshman we have chosen for this week’s Freshman Friday, Morgan Miller. Morgan is a freshman here at Georgia Southern University who is majoring in Nursing. Her plans for the future include finishing college and graduate school in order to become a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner. She was born May 6th, is from Brunswick, Georgia, and graduated from Glynn Academy in the year 2018. Her favorite color is red and her biggest inspiration is her mom.

Although Morgan had many options to choose from when deciding which college to attend, she chose Georgia Southern University because it was not too far from home, and she loves the “big campus, small feel aspect.” Her favorite thing about campus is all the new, admirable people she has met and grown to have a connection with so far. She was very active in high school, and she made sure that did not change when she got to college. Despite it only being her first year, she is already active on campus. Morgan is a member of the Georgia Southern Dance Team and is involved in the Minority Advisement Program. Her ability to take on the difficulties and struggles of freshman year and still be able to balance her activities and involvement on campus says a lot about her character. It shows dedication, commitment, dependability, and sophistication. A new environment is scary, and it is not everyday you can find someone who can bottle up their concerns and use them as motivation to fulfill their true aspirations.

The first month of freshman year of college is a rollercoaster. You are constantly meeting new people while simultaneously meeting yourself in the process. It’s not easy to leave everything familiar and jump into a world of phenomena. We have to make full adjustments to this new way of life mentally, emotionally, socially, and physically, and you will learn something new everyday without a doubt. After just the first month, Morgan has learned that we have to be more open to new ideas that, originally, you would not have thought twice about while you were in high school. She emphasizes that “You never know what new things you will learn about yourself.”

One fun fact about Morgan is that, even though she is only a freshman, she already has her Associate’s Degree in Biology. Here are a few more fun facts about this week’s fascinating freshman, Morgan:

Favorite Food: Chicken Alfredo

Favorite Animal: Elephant

Favorite Season: Fall

Favorite Movie: Superfly

Favorite Sport: Basketball

Favorite Person: Her Mom

Favorite Song: The Truth- India Arie

Favorite Quote:

“Your talent is God’s gift to you. What you do with it is your gift back to God.”- Leo Buscaglia

Morgan is the epitome of a well-rounded, virtuous individual. She is a honorable student and a great representation of what the Georgia Southern freshman class of 2022 has to offer. Next time you see Morgan on campus, make sure you say “hey.” She’s definitely an admired friend and an individual who anyone would be lucky to get to know.
