The App ‘Hooked’ Is a Foodie’s Best Friend

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UCD chapter.

When it comes to food and healthy eating as a college student, it can definitely be a struggle. Between trying to balance classes with work and extracurriculars, finding the time to cook and meal prep is almost impossible. Eating frozen foods and instant ramen every single day is not the most ideal situation for your health, and on top of that, eating out at restaurants all the time can really take a toll on your bank account. Hooked is here to change all that!

Based in Santa Monica, California, Hooked is a brand new mobile application that is a live feed of free and discounted food deals for anyone to use on partnering restaurants nearby. Hooked is available to use in many college towns throughout the United States, including Davis. It is completely free to download and comes at no cost to the user. Deals are available on Hooked all day every day for over 40 restaurants in the Davis and Woodland areas, and they are constantly changing, so you will always have a variety of options to choose from. Although Hooked is aimed at college students, you do not have to be a college student to use these deals.

My favorite part about Hooked is how accessible and user-friendly it is. As college students, our cell phones are always in our pockets or in our hands, so these food deals are readily available at the touch of a finger. The deals are great — my favorites specifically are the “Buy One, Get One Free Scoop” from Davis Creamery and the “BOGO Sandwiches and Platters” deal from Halal Guys. I love being able to save tons of money on delicious food!

Hooked is definitely a game changer for a college student’s lifestyle. I highly recommend downloading this app to save yourself some big bucks and to keep your stomach happy and well-fed!
