To my fellow celiac and gluten intolerant friends out there, I think we can all agree that missing out on the pumpkin breads, apple cider donuts, and fall festive cupcakes and cookies is getting old. But don’t you worry! There is a gluten free baker inside of you just waiting to be inspired and today I am going to guide you through a gluten free guide for all of your fall cravings. Follow these five steps and you’ll be golden!

1. Make Pinterest your new BFF

If you don’t already have a Pinterest account, stop what you are doing and go make one and start saving all of your favorite gluten free fall recipes. Trust me, there are hundreds of options. This online resource will provide you with various different adorable and delicious recipes to make your fall Pinterest perfect!

2. A little extra sugah and a little extra buttah

Let’s face it, there are some gluten free flour brands that are pretty bland and don’t add the flavor you want in your recipe. Have no fear! There isn’t a thing that a little sugar and a stick of butter can’t fix. In my gluten free baking experience, I tend to be overly generous with my sugar and butter portions. I like to think that I’m making up for the calories I’m losing with the gluten free flour. So, add a little more sugar and butter into your recipe, it’ll give it more taste.

3. When in doubt, cocoa it out!

In addition to butter and sugar, chocolate will take your recipes from bland to grand! I once added chocolate chips to a gluten free pumpkin bread recipe and boy what a difference! I even fooled my friends into thinking it wasn’t gluten free.

4. Embrace the bad batches

There will be some recipes that you may not excel with the first time or even the first few times. This can happen with more difficult recipes, or simple ones but the goal here is not be discouraged because it’s all part of the process of success.  You are well on your way of becoming the gluten free baker of your dreams. So, embrace the bad batches, the “how did I even make that” batches and the messy results. They are stepping stones to culinary success, I promise!

5. The GF Free Buddy System

Find a gluten free buddy to bake with, trust me it’s a small world and more and more people are becoming gluten free junkies. Creating a support system, having friends around who understand and who might also share their tips and strategies will help you navigate the challenges and bring your baking skills to the next level.

Now that you have your five tips and tricks, go out there and start baking! Let the season of fall inspire you and know that you don’t have to be excluded from all of fall’s staple treats.
