5 Ways to Get into the Halloween Spirit

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Buffalo chapter.
  1. Decorating

This is one of my favorite things to do when this time of year rolls around. Nothing puts me in the Halloween spirit more than decorating the inside and outside of my house. During the fall I make a “three-hour Target run” at least twice a week. Target is my favorite place all year round, but especially during the holiday season. Decorating doesn’t have to be expensive either! Target and Michael’s have tons of Halloween decorations for super low prices! I literally find all of my decorations at Target and spent a lot less than I thought I would! And of course, while you’re picking out some décor, don’t forget to pick up a few fall candles on you’re way out!

     2. Fall Baking

Now this is where everything and anything pumpkin spice comes into play! Obviously you need some dessert to go all with your Starbucks PSL! Baking, especially during the fall, is one of my favorite things to do because I love everything pumpkin! If you find yourself not getting into Halloween yet, stop by Wegmans and pick up some ingredients to make some pumpkin bread and those cute little pumpkin Pillsbury cookies, and suddenly you’ll be much more in the spirit.

     3. Watch Some Halloween Movies

If you’ve read any of my last few articles, you know that I love movies. Watching a Halloween themed movie or a horror movie, instantly puts me in the mood for a Halloween party. There’s hundreds of classics out there, my favorite being the It’s The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown; so log into Netflix or watch Freeform’s 31 Days of Halloween and find your favs!

      4. Fall Attractions

There are hundreds of fall activities to partake in during the fall here in Buffalo. Becker Farms, The Great Pumpkin Farm, Ellicottville activities, cider tastings, fall festivals and various Oktoberfests all over Western New York are just a few fall attractions to get hyped for fall and Halloween!

      5. Switching to Your Fall Wardrobe

Switching over your wardrobe from summer to fall will 100% put you in the mood for fall. It’s finally the time of year for big knit sweaters, pull over hoodies and dark nail polish, my personal fav. Finally being able to wear your favorite scarf and oversized sweater will make you wish it was fall all year-round!
