Tips for Making Your Makeup Last Longer Throughout the Night!

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Siena chapter.

1. Always start with clean, moisturized skin. Having a clean base will not only feel better for your skin, but your makeup will look nicer and stay fresh.

2. Your first step for your going out makeup routine should always be a good primer.

It’s no secret that primer will keep your makeup looking fleek for extra hours. Plus you can get primer that has illuminating effects so your skin will have a healthy glow to it. Primers that have SPF are also great because it keeps your skin protected from the sun and prevents wrinkles in the future!

3. After you have finished your makeup routine, using a setting spray will do wonders for making your makeup last throughout the night.

Setting spray will keep your makeup looking fresh and dewy. If you don’t like a dewy look, invest in a matte setting spray.

4. Using a translucent powder or foundation powder at the end of your makeup routine will also ensure that your foundation stays in place.

The powder acts as a final touch to smoothing out your face while fighting oily skin.

5. One trick that can help keep your lashes in place throughout the night is spraying a disposable mascara brush with hairspray and going over your lashes with it after mascara.

This trick sounds odd but it actually works! The hairspray will keep your eyelash hairs lifted and just where you want them to be – just be careful not to get hairspray in your eye.

6. Lipstick is always such a pain when you go out because it comes off easily. A trick to make lipstick last longer is to place a tissue over your lips and then pat translucent powder on the tissue over your lips.

Liquid lipstick also lasts longer than regular lipstick and doesn’t come off as easily.

7. Finally, a last quick tip to make sure your makeup stays perfect all night is to pack a few essentials in your purse before you go out.

Keeping blotting paper with you can do wonders when you are sweating or have oily skin. Just run to the bathroom and use a blotting sheet and your face will look fresh. Keeping Q-tips with you will also help if you start to have eyeliner or mascara smudge under your eyes.
