Best Things to Do in Salem

1.Salem Witch Museum

If it’s your first time in Witch City, be sure to check out the Salem Witch Museum.  The museum has three sections: the narrated introductory presentation, guided tour, and then the (guess!) Gift shop. If you are freaked out by wax figures/ “robots,” this might not be for you because the narrated presentation consists of the history of the Salem Witch Trials broken down into skits with moving animatronic figures. (Think the pirates of the caribbean ride at Disney world). But overall, this museum is a great way to explore salem’s history. Learn more at https://salemwitchmuseum.com

2.House of Seven Gables

Sound familiar? If you’re an English major, you have probably heard of the novel “The House of Seven Gables” by Nathaniel Hawthorne. Take a tour of one of the oldest surviving timber-framed mansion houses in North America and submerge yourself in its rich history and beautiful architecture. Learn more at https://7gables.org

3. Salem witch trials memorial

Place a rose on Rebecca Nurse’s or Giles Corey’s memorial at the Salem Witch Trials Memorial, a peaceful yet haunting place remembering those accused of witchcraft in 1692. Learn more at http://www.salemweb.com/memorial/memorial.php

4.Statue of Elizabeth Montgomery

Take a photo with the Bewitched statue located in Lappin Park on Essex and Washington Sts. You will surely get some major likes on Insta!

 5.Salem Maritime National Historic Site

On your way to Ye Olde Pepper Company for some famous Salem Black Jacks and Gibraltars, feast your eyes on Salem Harbor’s beautiful waterfront and oldest National Historic Site in the U.S.A., complete with an actual size replica ship! Learn more at https://www.nps.gov/sama/index.htm

6.Haunted Footsteps Walking Tour or Bewitched After Dark Walking Tour

Take a spooky walking tour through Salem. You will learn some super interesting stuff and maybe even see a ghost!

For a Quick Bite for Brunch : Gulu Gulu Cafe

This cute little cafe serves some amazing gourmet crepes and sandwiches as well as coffee. If you are over 21, Alcoholic beverages are also for sale and there is live entertainment on Halloween night!

 For dinner….Witch’s Brew Cafe

When in Salem… do at the witches do and grab a bite at the witch’s brew cafe! Located near the house of seven gables, this cozy cafe offers a variety of options including burgers and other pub fare. It also sports festive decor  around Halloween!

  For dessert…Coffee time bakery

Save room for dessert! This quaint bakery is located on 96 Bridge Street and offers a huge selection of delicious pastries! I recommend the pumpkin cheesecake!
