I don’t know when I started using TV as a sort of therapy, but at some point, I realized that watching just a thirty-minute episode did wonders for me. Whenever I am anxious, sad, or mad at the world, I turn to one of my favorite shows to calm me down. Most of these are beloved by many, but maybe I’ll bring one to your attention you haven’t considered watching before.

First on my list is That 70’s Show. I am currently working my way through the entire series and I love every minute of it. Hyde is BY FAR the best character, and I really don’t know if I’ve ever laughed more while watching something. It’s a definite mood lifter.

Friends is obviously another show that never fails to make me smile. You can turn on any random episode without context and instantly feel better. I’m going to throw it out there that Ross is my least favorite character and end it there.

Full House isn’t a show that I regularly watch anymore, but I have seen every episode at least twice. All throughout my childhood it was my go-to, and I quote the Tanner family on a regular basis. Just thinking about it makes me smile. I highly recommend going through the series at some point. Reba is another show I watched constantly when I was growing up. I think this one is a little less popular than the others, but it’s still one of my favorites. Country singer Reba McEntire is the lead and she is hilarious. I know Freeform plays reruns all the time, so check it out!

Parks and Recreation is a show I like to turn on when I just want to chill and not really pay attention much. Even if I’m scrolling through my phone while it’s on, the sound of Leslie Knope’s voice is calming to me. I know Parks and Rec is always in competition with The Office, but I personally prefer the former.

The next time you are feeling a little down, try turning on one of these shows to make yourself feel better. They work for me every time!
