A Girl’s Guide to Black Friday Shopping

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at U Conn chapter.

Black Friday is only one one day away and in order to have the most efficient and successful shopping spree, you’ve got to go prepared. But don’t worry, I’ve compiled some of the best stores to go to if you want a bang for your buck. With this guide, you can go to the mall, or your laptop, armed with info and ready to push past the crowds.

1.) Amazon

Instead of the traditional Black Friday, Amazon has deals throughout Thanksgiving week, and ends over the weekend with “Turkey 5,” known for great deals and is the perfect time to look into buying presents for family and friends. Even better, you can often ship your purchase to the Amazon store in Storrs center to receive your package faster for free.

2.) Sephora

In recent years, Sephora has been known to have pretty epic Black Friday sales, so odds are, they’ll have something similar this year. Overall, the company doesn’t have sales very often, so don’t miss out!

3.) ASOS

ASOS is usually pretty generous with their Black Friday sales. They tend to have a certain percentage off your entire purchase, last year it was 30%! Sign me up!

4.) Gymshark

Gymshark workout gear has become all the rage at UConn. I can usually spot at least 2 girls wearing their leggings while at the gym. Unfortunately, Gymshark is another company that rarely offers sales, but at least in the past they’ve been quite generous on Black Fridays. I’m keeping my fingers crossed for a similar sale this year.

5.) H&M

Typically, the more loyal of a H&M shopper you are, the more deals you’ll get. That being said, H&M is already fairly cheap and usually has good Black Friday sales, so they’re worth checking out no matter what your shopping history is.

6.) Missguided

Last year, Missguided had a 50% off pretty much everything sale, so I’m expecting something similar this year. Also, keep in mind that students already get 30% off. I knew going to college would pay off someday!

7.) Urban Outfitters

Urban Outfitters is one of my favorite stores and also tends to be a bit pricey, so thank goodness for Black Friday. The exact sales aren’t out yet, but last year, people saved around $15 on purchases of about $75.

8.) American Eagle Outfitters

American Eagle is a go-to stop on my shopping sprees, so it’s nice to know they are pretty reliable when it comes to Black Friday deals. Past years have shown us that almost everything gets marked down. So, if you’ve been eyeing a certain pair of jeans for a few weeks, now’s the time to go for it.

Good luck with all your Black Friday shopping, and don’t forget about Cyber Monday!
