Herbal teas are refreshing, warming, and perfect for enjoying during the cold Lancaster months. Despite having many benefits for your health and wellbeing, most people don’t really know much about them. But this guide will help you to determine which tea could be beneficial for you!

Struggling to sleep?

It is not uncommon to struggle falling asleep when you’re living the hectic student life. Chamomile is great for soothing the stomach and mind, and makes getting to sleep a lot easier. Lavender is also notoriously good for promoting sleep and calmness.

Feeling the winter sniffles coming on?

Peppermint is an anti-inflammatory and decongestant, meaning its perfect for clearing out and soothing symptoms of a cold. It also eases digestion, cramps and fevers!

Needing an energy boost?

When you’re feeling sluggish, you might automatically reach for a quick caffeine hit. For a healthier option, though, green tea is a great alternative. It encourages your metabolism and contains antioxidants which give your body a boost.

Feeling nauseous?

Herbal teas in general are great for this as they are all beneficial for digestion. Ginger in particular is recommended when you’re feeling nauseous, as it also combats dizziness.

Stressed or nervous?

This is probably the most common emotion issue among students, especially when the end of term deadlines are quickly approaching. Lemongrass/lemon balm have calming effects, including soothing nerves and easing headaches. Lavender can also help, but may also make you sleepy, so don’t go overboard before an exam!

It’s worth noting may teas, especially green and lemongrass, also taste amazing served over ice when (or if) the sun does come out. As well as this array of targeted benefits, herbal teas also have loads of general health benefits that are well worth exploring!
