I am obsessed with everything Disney. Soundtracks, movies, clothes, parks, you name it. I was raised on it. I have memories of when I was little and my mom making us stop every five minutes for another picture, or waiting in line to meet Tinkerbell because she was (and still is)  an icon. From such a young age it has always brought me so much joy and happiness, and that still carries on into my adult life. The only problem is, a Disney obsession comes with a price. All of the Disney shirts, hats and bags come with a price, and saving up to visit Disney World is a huge commitment. My obsession may be a problem for my bank account, but here are the reasons why Disney is the best thing ever.

1. Good messages

Movies like “Mulan” and “Brave” show children of all ages that they should stand up for what they believe in and never back down, and movies such as “Lilo and Stitch” and “Frozen” teach people that family is incredibly important and should be cherished. Each Disney movie usually has a subliminal message that shows the viewer the positive things in life and what is really important.

2. It’s an escape from normal life

When going through college while stressing about internships and finals, we all need an escape from reality. Watching Disney movies can take you back to the good-old days, remind you to not take life too seriously and to always keep that childlike wonder.

3. It brings you so much joy

I know when I hear a certain song or see a clip from a movie or show, it can bring back great memories and so much happiness with it. If I ever need a pick-me-up in the middle of the day, my go-to is “Zero To Hero” from “Hercules.” Every. Single. Time.

4. Visiting the parks is the best vacation ever

Believe me when I say that I am a Disney World pro. Like it was said in the song Disney Freak, “I know the whole park like the back of my hand, and if you’re going with me I’ve got our day all planned.” It is the best feeling to be able to go into a Disney park and feel like a child again for a whole day. Everything is so filled with magic and can bring happiness to anyone who goes.

5. The stories are inspiring

Princess Tiana taught us that we have to work hard for our dreams and never give up. Hercules showed us that we can go the distance. “Meet the Robinsons” told us to keep moving forward. The stories that Disney gave us can be incredibly inspiring to everyone. I know I feel like I can do anything after I see Mulan climb the pole and retrieve the arrow.

If you’re feeling stressed during this finals season collegiettes, remember to take time for yourself and maybe even watch some Disney movies. Good luck on finals!
