5 Best Places to go Holiday Shopping in Boston

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at BU chapter.

It’s finally the holiday season! Now it is the perfect time to think about shopping for gifts for your friends and family! Being in a city, college students in Boston have so many amazing options when it comes to finding shopping spots. This can be a blessing and a curse (I love all of Boston’s shopping spots but my wallet doesn’t). Whether you’re into inexpensive chain stores like Primark, cute independent boutiques, or high-end department stores, there’s definitely a great place for you to go shopping this holiday season, and hopefully this list will help you find it!

1. Newbury Street

Newbury Street is one of my favorite places to shop in Boston. Not only does it have a great variety of stores, but it’s absolutely gorgeous, and perfect for a quick Instagram pic! Some highlights you won’t want to miss are: the Newbury Comics flagship store, Muji, Brandy Melville, and a Forever 21 that has four floors!

2. The Shops at Prudential Center

The Prudential Center is located in Back Bay, right next to Newbury Street. It has some great shops and while you’re there, you can go up to the Skywalk Observatory and see some breathtaking views of Boston too! Shops that you’ll love include: Eataly, Sephora, Barnes & Noble, and Lulemon.

3. Downtown Crossing

Downtown Crossing is located near the Boston Common and has some of my favorite stores. It’s also close to the Theatre District, so if you’re in the holiday mood while shopping you can catch a show like Boston Ballet’s The Nutcracker and get your gift shopping done at the same time! Some of the best stores in the Downtown Crossing area are: Primark, Brattle Book Shop, and Macy’s.

4. Faneuil Hall

Faneuil Hall is a fun shopping destination located near the Greenway and the North End. Quincy Market, in the center of the Faneuil Hall Marketplace, offers a food court with a wide array of dining options. Faneuil Hall includes shops such as: Uniqlo, Ghirardelli Chocolate, the Cheers gift shop, and Urban Outfitters.

5. Harvard Square

Harvard Square is located, as the name suggests, in Cambridge right near Harvard’s campus. It’s the perfect shopping destination for fun and quirky gifts, with shops like Black Ink, The Games People Play, and Follow the Honey. Or if you’re in the mood for sweets, Cabots Candy and Mike’s Pastry will have everything you could ever want.

Exploring new shopping destinations and the stores they hold is a great way to find the perfect gifts for all of your loved ones this holiday season!
