Cardi B, the 26-year-old rapper known for “Bodak Yellow” and “I Like It,” recently announced her split from husband Offset after only a year of marriage, revealing that the couple “grew out of love.”
According to PEOPLE, she revealed the decision in a video posted to Instagram, where she addressed the situation to her 36.6 million followers.
“We are really good friends and we are really good business partners — you know he’s always somebody that I run to talk to, and we got a lot of love for each other but things just haven’t been working out between us for a long time. It’s nobody fault I guess we just grew out of love, but we are not together anymore. I don’t know, it might take time to get a divorce and I’m going to always have a lot of love for him because he is my daughter’s father,” Cardi said.
Offset vaguely commented on the video himself saying, “Y’all won.”
One month before before Cardi gave birth to the couple’s daughter and first child together, Kulture Kiari, back in July, it was revealed that Cardi and Offset were actually married, PEOPLE reports.
While some fans believe the statement is a joke, as Cardi is known for her pranks on social media, in January, Cardi confirmed that Offset was involved in a sex tape cheating scandal.
She later defended her decision to stay with her husband despite criticisms of his actions, saying in a now-deleted post, “Well if people are talking about it and keep asking me how I feel about the situation why not let them know? Right or wrong? No it’s not right for a n—a to cheat… But what you want me to do? Go f–k me another n—a? start all over again and get cheated on again? This s— happens to everyone and I be too You too… People handle they relationship different soo.”
Cardi did not specify whether their decision to separate was related to Offset’s infidelity or not, but the pair seems to be on amicable terms regardless.
