5 Life Changing Drugstore Beauty Products You Need ASAP

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Buffalo chapter.

I have tried endless amounts of drugstore beauty and skincare products and well, let me tell you, a good majority of them have been a bust. But there are a few holy-grail products I continue to purchase time after time and love even more than many high-end products. Here are five of my favorite drugstore products that I use every single day.

1. Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Formula with Vitamin E Swivel Stick Chapstick I’m not exaggerating when I say that this is the best chapstick I have ever used. I have tried literally, just about every drugstore brand of chapstick on the market and have never found one that is comfortable enough to wear all day when my face is makeup free but also comfortable enough to wear under lipstick and doesn’t dry out your lips. The swivel stick is a lip care game changer. I keep one in my backpack, purse and in my car to make sure I always have one on me. This to die for chapstick is not available at many drugstores like Target or Walgreens, but it is available at Wegmans.

2. Dove Shower Foam Deep Moisture Body Wash

Body wash is something that I have never had a preference about. I would purchase the cheapest body wash I could find or when I felt boujee, a decently expensive foaming body wash, that was until I found my favorite. The Dove Foam Deep Moisture Body Wash is heaven. It smells amazing and does not leave my skin feeling dry, ever. It has been the only body wash I have used for months, and I do not think I could ever go back. The Dove Foam Deep Moisture Body Wash comes in various scents and can be found at any local drugstore.

3. Nivea Smooth Daily Moisture Lotion

If you’re anything like me, you went through a very, very long, probably too long, Bath & Body Works phase. I used to buy handfuls of lotion of all different scents, from the popular store at one time. My best friend’s mom was even a manager at a local Bath & Body Works, so you could imagine, I was drowning in everything BBW for a long time. After years of Japanese Cherry Blossom, I figured it was time to move on and find a lotion that would truly benefit my skin. I came across the Nivea Smooth Daily Moisture Body Lotion and haven’t used anything else since. I use it after I take a shower as well as in the morning and at night and my skin always stays hydrated during these long Buffalo winters. The lotion is sold in a large bottle which lasts me months at a time and found at any of your local drugstores.

4. Batiste Dry Shampoo

As I have gotten older and my life has gotten busier and busier, I have moved on from the days of washing my hair, blow drying and straightening all before I left for class or work. Seriously though, I used to wash my hair every day, which I know is bad for your hair, but don’t worry, we’re past those days. Dry shampoo is something that I have never ever liked. Every dry shampoo has made my hair look even greasier and feel even heavier, that was until I found Batiste. Batiste has saved my hair from looking absolutely awful on the days that I don’t have time to wash it. Batiste also comes in brunette so the shampoo itself sprays out brown instead of white, aka a gift from God. Batiste is available at any drugstores as well as ULTA.

5. OGX Smoothing + Shea Sleek Smooth Style Spray

I have never been one to use very many products in my hair, I don’t have super thick hair, so I always felt that a lot of products weighed down my hair. The OGX Smoothing + Shea Sleek Smooth Style Spray has been one of my holy-grail hair products for years. I apply right after I shower and then blow dry my hair. The spray makes my hair look extremely sleek and straight after blow drying. Although, an absolute life changer is when I straighten my hair after I use the product and blow dry my hair. My hair literally looks as though I just stepped out of the salon. The spray is available at most drugstores and ULTA.
