Cute, Cheap Christmas Decorations for your Bedroom or Dorm!

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at La Verne chapter.

Christmas is around the corner and I thought it would be fun to show you guys some really cute, affordable Christmas decorations that you can use to make your dorms festive. I absolutely love the holidays, but I am a broke college student and I do not have a lot of money to spend on decor. Nonetheless, I have a very Christmas-decorated room. So I hope I can help you with some ideas!

1. Lighting

First and foremost, one of the easiest way to make your room look festive for Christmas is lighting. Here are some actual pictures of my room to give you an idea.

Here is this cute little shelf I put up in my room. I decorated it with some fairy lights for Christmas.

Here is the lighting at my makeup desk. I purchased these black Christmas lights from Target and I really liked the black wiring over the classic green color.

Here is the lighting behind my bed. I purchased these from Amazon and they’re really cool because there is a bunch of different lighting settings so you can make them flicker or be all the way on. They are a really cute statement piece.

2. Wreaths and trees!

I got a really cute mini wreath last year on clearance at Michael’s. These can really pull your room together for Christmas. Just hang it on the inside of your room! This one is ordained with pearls and you can safely hang it on your door with some hooked Command strips and a chain like I did so you won’t get in trouble.

Here is a mini Christmas tree that I stole from my mother! If you want something similar, I suggest stopping by a craft shop such as Michael’s or Hobby Lobby and purchasing them on clearance AFTER the holidays. Look how cute it is!

Lastly, I got a couple of these mini Christmas trees from the dollar section in Target. I thought that they were a really cute and affordable way to incorporate the holidays in my room.

3. Ornaments and candles

Some really easy ways to pull your room/dorm together is to use ornaments and/or candles (ONLY if you are not living on campus).

Below you will notice that I hung up some adorable, wooden Christmas tree ornaments. I purchased these at the dollar section at Target as well. I really recommend you check out that section if you are on a budget because they do have some really cute decorations.

I also have a holiday spruce candle from Target because I love to make my room feel cozy by filling it with Christmas aromas!

I also put up a mini nativity scene that I have had since I was a kid because it is super adorable. I think my mom purchased this from Mexico when I was little, so I am not sure where you can purchase it.

4. Bedding

Honestly, it might not be as cold in Southern California as compared to other places, but it definitely gets cold where I live, so I love to have a bunch of blankets in my room at this time of the year.

This fur blanket not only keeps me cozy when I am studying on my bed, but it is really fashionable during the holiday season.

Homegoods: $30

Well everybody, I hope I was able to give you some holiday decoration ideas! I really had fun decorating this year. I hope you have a wonderful Christmas season with your families and/or friends!

XOXO
