Are you a night owl looking for something fun to do on Friday nights? The Plaza Theatre on Ponce De Leon Ave can offer you a fun and interesting night and morning. Every Friday night at 11:55 the Plaza Theatre offers a live and film showing of the classic musical, The Rocky Horror Picture Show. The theatre offers other movie showings throughout the week, but every Friday night is reserved for their iconic screening. Walking into this theatre is like stepping back in time, with the old-fashioned sign out front and the inside walls covered with classic movie posters.

The atmosphere while waiting in line to file into the theatre for the show is upbeat and energetic. Employees wearing fishnets and flashy corsets walk around marking first timers with a bright red V on their foreheads. The show is about to start and people push in, walking down the aisles to find the best spot. The movie itself doesn’t start immediately, as they put on an audience participation show before, calling up people to take part in outlandish yet entertaining tasks before the rest of the crowd. A quick raffle giving out some prizes (like butt-shaped gummies that someone was very excited to win), a little speech to highlight the contributions of those who keep the theatre running, and the show begins.

Attending a Rocky Horror Picture Show is a unique experience that can make for a great time if you let it. The viewer gets their choice of whether they want to watch the 1975 science fiction musical or watch the talented actors performing the entire movie live right below the screen (the best experiences come when you do a little of both). If you hate having to sit and be quiet during a movie screening, then this is the place for you. The Rocky Horror Picture Show encourages the audience to yell at the screen. In fact, there is a whole script you can follow, which includes water guns and newspapers. But don’t worry if you don’t know what to do or say, as there are people in the audience to guide you through the audience participation part, or you can just sit back and enjoy the controlled chaos.

The best part about going to see The Rocky Horror Picture Show is that with live actors and a different crowd every night, you won’t get the same show twice. If you’re looking for something fun to do on a Friday night and you’ve got 15 dollars laying around, the Plaza Theatre can offer you a wild and entertaining night.
