2018: You Didn’t Go Though All That For Nothing

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at CWU chapter.

There are many different ways people approach the new year.  Some people set resolutions, or say “new year, new me”, and some start the new year with a kiss at midnight.  No matter who you are, where you are in life or what might be going on in your life, take a second and think about everything you learned in 2018.  Here is a reminder that you didn’t go through all of that for nothing.

Everything that happened in 2018 happened for a reason.  Every up and down that you experienced shaped you and your life, thus far, for the better. Yes, you heard me, FOR THE BETTER.  While it was happening or you were in the middle of the storm it most likely felt like the end of the world, but guess what, it wasn’t. You made it through, you’re still here. You were able to surpass all of the sleepless, tear soaked nights, you were able to pick yourself up off the floor after feeling completely defeated or heartbroken. You survived them all. You were strong enough to make it through everything this past year literally threw at you. So overall, you did pretty well this year (Yay, you)!  You made people happy just by existing, you said so many amazing hellos, and accepted many goodbyes. YOU LEARNED SO MUCH. Try to take a minute and not focus on all the negative, the bad and the ugly that happened this past year, and instead, think that as of the first day of 2019 you have so much wisdom and strength now.
