It’s mid-January, so today I want to talk about skincare. Everyone has a skincare routine, maybe ranging from one step to five steps. I want to introduce you to my skincare routine.

In middle school, I went to the dermatologist for the first time because I was just so irritated with my skin. My skin has never been bad; it is not like the horror stories you see on Proactive commercials.I was just irritated with little things that I could not get to go away. It was probably just teenage hormones, but either way, I wanted my face clean and clear (get the pun?). Before going to the dermatologist, I tried Neutrogena. Neutrogena only made my face more irritated, so that’s when I really knew it was time to go see the dermatologist. The dermatologist recommended I do three things, all of which I still do today. Here is my skincare routine today in 2019:

Morning

1. Wash face with Cetaphil Daily Face Cleanse.

2. Wait a few minutes for face to dry and then apply alcohol wipes (these wipes have a big scientific name, but this is the name I call them. They were originally prescribed to my because my face was oily).

3.Wait for alcohol wipes to dry and then apply Cetaphil Moisturizing Lotion (only in the winter time).

Afternoon

1. Reapply alcohol wipes (I should be doing this every day, but I have recently stopped. This is probably why I am in an in-between stage with my face currently).

Night

1.Apply night cream (again, there’s a big long scientific name that I don’t know, but it is basically a regular topical cream).

If I wore makeup that day, I would:

1.Use cotton pads and use Garnier Micellar Water (honestly, this stuff is amazing) to remove makeup, wait for my face to dry again, and then finish my nighttime routine.

If I wanted to do a whole skincare weekend, I would do these few things:

1.Splash hot water on my face to open up my pores.

2. Use Biore Charcoal Pore Strips.

3.While pore strip is on, apply Origins Charcoal Face Mask (if you can’t tell, I really dig the charcoal).

4. Wait the allotted time for both and then spray on Mario Badescu Rose Water to finish everything off.

This is my daily skincare routine as well as my me-time skincare routine. What’s your routine like? Have you been to a dermatologist? Do you use prescriped acne products, or did you find your skincare routine through trial-and-error? Let me know in the comments!
