For several years, this book was in my brother’s room collecting dust but little did I know, it was going to completely change my outlook on life.

“The Secret” by Rhonda Byrne is about the Law of Attraction and the idea that our thoughts can directly change the outcome of our lives. It’s a pretty easy read and I finished it in about a week. What I found the most interesting is that it incorporated different excerpts of wisdom and knowledge from some of the most prominent people in history such as Einstein, Beethoven, Galileo and more.

When we think about our lives and everything that occurs on a regular basis, it’s our thoughts that drive the majority of our actions. Our thoughts play an integral role in the way we live our lives. Other than when we are asleep, we are constantly thinking. Therefore, it would make sense that the way we think can have an impact on our lives.

If you are the type of person to see the world as a great place filled with opportunity, it would make sense that opportunities always come your way. On the other hand, if you see every day as a constant struggle, you might continue to constantly struggle. This book really taught me about perspective and how every situation has two sides.

I know you’ve all had a difficult exam that you needed to pass but you felt immediately that you had failed. You finally get your score back and lo and behold, you did fail. Now imagine what the outcome could have been if you spent more time believing that you passed instead of failed. That is what “The Secret” is about, using your thoughts to shape and mold different outcomes in your life.

If you take a look at some of the most successful people in the world, the passion, vision, belief is almost universal amongst all of them. Despite their upbringing, despite their life situations, and despite all the odds, they all had the passion to do something, they went after it and they made it happen. “The Secret” discusses a three-step process: ask, believe and receive. When we ask God, the Universe, whatever you believe in, for something we have to believe that it is ours and believe that we already have it and we will receive it. That is what is commonly seen in extremely successful people. They have a vision for something, they believe they can achieve it and then they receive it.

In my opinion, it is one of the best books I have read this year. It made me really analyze and examine the way that I was going about my life and it challenged me to make some changes. It was an insightful read and I highly recommend it.

Have any of you guys ever read it? If so, what did you think?
