7 Reasons Lauren Conrad Is The Best Friend I Never Had But Always Wanted

Happy Birthday, Lauren Conrad! From The Hills to her clothing lines and lifestyle blog, LC has been an icon since she came into the spotlight. I don’t know about you, but I would be living my best life if she were my best friend. I mean, she’s strong, stylish and so amazing, how could you not want to be in her life? If you aren’t convinced, here are 7 reasons why it would be a dream come true to be Lauren’s partner in crime.

1) She’s a best-selling author

Hello, New York Times! Lauren Conrad has written several books throughout her career since she left The Hills, including her teen trilogies, L.A. Candy and The Fame Game. She even branched out into the DIY world with her books on beauty and lifestyle, including Lauren Conrad Style, Lauren Conrad Beauty and Lauren Conrad Celebrate. She must have a knack, because she’s an eight-time best seller. Talk about a queen, seriously. Imagine having a BFF on the bestseller list? It’d be hard not to brag about how talented she is, TBH.

2) She’s educated and worked hard for her career, making her a great role model

If you even watched a glimpse of The Hills, you would know that LC was getting through school at FIDM (Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising), pursuing fashion design while living her life out on reality TV. Now an alum, Conrad has put her education to work, with two clothing lines and a lifestyle blog. She left the show to become fully invested in her career, which shows she wanted to work more than stay in the limelight. She interned at Teen Vogue, launched her brands Paper Crown and The Little Market and stayed on the grind, encouraging a student like me to remember it’s a process and we all have to start somewhere. She pursued her passions over fame, which is a great example to learn from, if you ask me. Having a friend to look up to is a sweet bond, so LC, hit me up!

3) She has the *best* advice

You can scour her blog for any Ask Lauren post—seriously, she gives the most encouraging, reasonable advice you could imagine, in a lot of areas, which is the *perfect* quality of a BFF. To provide some examples, she’s given advice on healthy eating, making friends and keeping old friendships alive, managing working at home and even how to take good pictures. I could only imagine the advice she’d have for her BFF—I mean, she could probably coach you through anything.

4) She helps other women feel comfortable in their own skin

Before baby Liam, Conrad’s son, entered the world, LC mentioned that style was still of importance to her, but maternity clothes just weren’t giving her what she wanted. “I felt that if I was having difficulty finding maternity pieces I wanted to wear, then my customer probably was as well,” she told FitPregnancy. “I want pregnant women to still feel like themselves. I tried to create looks that are appropriate for work, for going out to dinner, or for a girls’ night out. The line is very personal to me.” The maternity line was launched under her existing LC Lauren Conrad line at Kohl’s, allowing other pregnant women to have stylish options for their maternity clothes, which is totally genius and thoughtful. What a way to empower women through a field she loves, right?

5) She doesn’t let us forget the importance of balancing work life with a personal life

Lauren knew she wanted to be a mommy, so like the smart woman she is, she planned for her ability to be with her baby. “I made a big effort over the last two years to build a team that I trust, knowing my end goal was to be a mother,” she said. “I’ve gotten to the place where I feel confident that I can step away for a minute and everyone will be able to carry on.” She even mentioned on her blog that taking a break from your personal life is okay. “Maybe you’ll find that as much as you love your little one, you actually enjoy some time spent with other grownups while you are at work. There is absolutely nothing wrong with that.” Judging by how much she has it figured out, I have no doubt she’s amazing at time management and making time for her friends.

6) She is goal-oriented and encouraging of pursuing passions

Back in 2013 in a Q&A with Teen Vogue about her internship there, which we see a bit of in The Hills, Conrad was asked how she was able to make a career outside of reality TV. Her answer? Chasing her dreams. “I’ve always just worked really hard and focused on what I wanted to do, and I think I’ve been really fortunate,” she told the magazine. Work hard, she has. On her own blog, she even shared her thoughts on goal-setting. “Sometimes the journey can make the destination feel so far away. Focus on the big picture and don’t lose sight of your overall goal. Trust me when I say that every path to success has its fair share of ups and downs and one day you’ll look back and be proud that you overcame them all.” We all need a reminder that our passions are worth pursuing, and LC is your girl for that.

7) She has an AMAZING, empowering non-profit for women with her *actual* BFF.

Lauren and her BFF Hannah Skvarla from FIDM have a non-profit business together called The Little Market, which empowers women worldwide. It’s an online shop with products from female artisans, who can then make a living off of their sales while still creating things they love. Lauren mentioned making actual stores in the future, which will only expand the business and empower more women to live their dream and feed their loved ones. Amazing. What woman wouldn’t love to be friends with someone who cares about other women in the world?

Honestly, after all of this, how could you not want to be best friends with a woman like Lauren Conrad? She is smart, empowering, stylish, family-oriented, I could go on and on. I can only imagine how the list will grow the more she continues to create and share her life with others.

Abbey is a senior at the University of Wyoming and is currently majoring in Journalism. She couldn't imagine a world without Jesus, coffee, The 1975, Twitter or her family. You'll usually find her at a concert or cafe somewhere, which is where she spends majority of her free-time. Talking to band members after their shows is a hobby, along with thrifting & indulging in all aspects of pop culture. After college, she plans to spend more time at concerts, getting paid to write about music and bands.
