Top 3 Podcasts I Have Been Loving Lately

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Illinois chapter.

If you’re anything like me, you can probably be found with headphones in at any time of the day. I found that lately I’m always listening to the same playlists on repeat (which gets a little boring), so I decided I needed to switch things up. After hearing so much buzz about podcasts, I decided to give them a try and I can honestly say they’re a great addition to my day. They span tons of different topics like health and wellness, relationship advice, celebrity news and much more. I listen to them on my way to class, at the gym, or just lounging in my room, and they alway leave me feeling inspired and informed. Because I have enjoyed listening to podcasts so much, I wanted to share some of my favorites so far (I’m still searching for other amazing podcasts too)!

1. The Skinny Confidential Him & Her

Looking for tips, tricks, and hacks for improving any and every aspect of your life? Look no further than the Skinny Confidential Him & Her Podcast, which is run by Lauryn Evarts Bosstick and her husband Michael. For a little background information, Lauryn is a trendy influencer who created her own blog, podcast, book and Youtube channel called The Skinny Confidential.  Her husband is an entrepreneur and CEO of a network called Dear Media as well as Bosstick Media, and both of them are very experienced and knowledgable when it comes to building a brand and being successful business people. The podcast focuses on topics ranging from health and wellness, beauty, relationships, lifestyle tips and much more. They also have incredible guests featured on their show including other entrepreneurs, experts, doctors and even celebrities. The mix of Lauryn and Michael’s relatability along with the validity and knowledge of their guests make these podcasts so much fun to listen to and I honestly learn so much along the way.

2. The Morning Toast

I definitely have a guilty pleasure of keeping up with all the celebrity drama and gossip. If this sounds like you, I recommend listening to The Morning Toast podcast. Hosted by sisters Claudia (better known as @girlwithnojob) and Jackie Oshtry, the podcast focuses on the latest news from celebrity updates, to reacting to what’s happening in the news, to giving updates about different television shows, while also sharing hilarious personal stories. I personally love this podcast beacuse it wraps up all the important news from different sources onto one platform, making it efficient and easy to get your daily dose of gossip. Not to mention, they keep me extremely entertained and informed throughout their entire podcast, which makes me a loyal listener of theirs.

3. The Daily by The New York Times

I can admit that I’m not the best with keeping up with the news – I feel like it’s so easy to get caught up in this bubble when I’m at school that I don’t take the time to learn about what’s going on in the world. I found that listening to The Daily allows me to catch up and keeps me up-to-date about the latest news. Top journalists from The New York Times power this podcast, so you know this is a reliable and dependable news source. The best aspect of these podcasts is that they get to the main point without adding any unnecessary information – they’re about 20-30 minutes long, whereas most podcasts are over an hour long. So next time you want to be informed about what’s going on around you, pop in some headphones and choose which sounds most interesting to you!
