Best Things To Do on Valentine’s Day When Your Single

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Muhlenberg chapter.

If you don’t have a significant other to spend Valentine’s Day with this year (or ever), there are plenty of other options.

I’d like to personally throw out the idea of celebrating Galentine’s Day. Spending the time with your girl friends and crying over Nicholas Sparks movies together is definitely better than trying not to look like a softie in front of a boy. Instead of going out with your significant other, go see the latest romance movie with your girls. Don’t skip out on the chocolate! If you have an excuse to eat all the damn chocolate in the world, don’t pass that up! You and your friends can all buy each other those cute little Valentine’s heart chocolates, or simply buy some for yourself. After all, Valentine’s Day can also be a day to treat yourself.

You can also spend the day with a close guy friend. If you’re both single, there’s no harm in just hanging out together to show appreciation for each other as friends. You can also make it a group hangout! Instead of following the normal traditions of Valentine’s Day, do the complete opposite. I personally always wear black on Valentine’s day, because fuck it! Or if you’re really feelin’ bold, and I applaud you if you are, YOU can always make the first move on a guy. Play it real lowkey.

Whatever you decide to do, don’t wallow in the fact that you’re single this year on V-day. Live in the now, and don’t get upset over the fact that you’re single. Live it up — you have no obligation to buy anyone else but yourself a shit ton of chocolate!
