I’m Here to Disprove Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom’s Engagement

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Xavier chapter.

Hey there, collegiettes. I know that there’s been a lot of talk about Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom’s ~romantic~ Valentine’s day engagement, but I’m here to disprove this whole thing. And let me tell you, I’ve got evidence.

If you’re not hip-and-with-it, on Valentine’s Day Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom both posted

this photo on Instagram:

Perry’s caption reads “full bloom,” while Bloom’s says “Lifetimes.” I suppose it seems like an engagement announcement, and ALL major celebrity news sources are reporting on it as such.

But you best believe that this amateur sleuth is about to debunk this pop culture hoax– and I’ve got some pretty compelling proof. Step into my office as I enlighten the entire Her Campus community on the most shocking revelation of our time…

Exhibit A: Photographic Evidence

Let’s take a closer look at this so-called engagement ring.

Y’all. Is it just me or is that ring on her index finger??

Look carefully…

All I’m saying is the finger that’s cut out of the picture is DEFINITELY a thumb. Which means that the ring is on her index finger, not her ring finger!

Face it, you can’t argue with this logic.

Exhibit B: More Undeniable Proof

That…that’s it. That’s all I’ve got.

Conclusions

Are Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom engaged? Maybe. Could I be wrong about this whole index finger thing? Possibly. Am I going to close this case and stop pursuing a career in celebrity detective work? Most definitely.
