When it comes to juggling 6 classes; an internship; and a social life, it leaves me will little time to give in to temptation and distractions. I’m not saying I still don’t give in to distractions from time to time but here are some tips I found to help with the distractions I deal with every day!
Â
1. Social Media
I don’t know about you, but I waste so much time on social media when I should be getting things done. One thing that’s really helped me lately was the new setting in my iPhone called “screen time.” I set a limit for my social media apps to only allow 2 hours a day! Once I hit 2 hours, it basically locks me out of the apps. This has helped me allocate my time so much better and focus on reality!

2. Binge Watching Shows
When you know you have deadlines soon…don’t even turn on Netflix or Hulu. I know I never have the willpower to shut a series off once I started. So, instead of putting it on as “background noise,” I cancel it out altogether.

3. Roomies
I love my roomies but sometimes they are an easy way to procrastinate. They are usually just steps away to talk, laugh, and essentially help forget about obligations. It’s also hard to get away from them sometimes when needing space to study, write a paper, etc. I’ve learned to let them know what my upcoming deadlines are for assignments and exams and not only do they understand but they make sure to encourage instead of distract!

4. Boyfriend This hasn’t been much of an issue since our relationship became long distance this school year, but we still Facetime almost every day. Sometimes, I would choose answering the phone while finishing homework which results in unfinished homework. We have learned to set specific times to talk each day with way it motivates me to get my work done so I have time to talk with him.
