Leeds Food: Bruch Guide!

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Leeds chapter.

If you’re wondering around Leeds on a lovely Sunday morning (or any other day for that matter), and fancy a spot of brunch then I’ve compiled the perfect list of all the best places to go! Make sure you check them out throughout your time in Leeds – it will be money and time well spent.

1. IF

One of the most popular cafes among the students on my course is this cafe and it’s for a good reason. I kept on seeing mouthwatering pictures of pancakes online and decided to check it out. As you can see in the post above, there’s a selection of freshly baked treats when you first enter the store giving you some edible eye candy.

There is both indoor and outdoor seating available and the décor is so homely and sweet. There’s a range of brunch options from pancakes, full English breakfast with vegetarian options available, and many more.

2. Olive and Rye

This was the first cafe I visited when I moved to Leeds as I kept seeing it on Instagram, so I went with a bunch of people I had just met. They offer an all-day breakfast with 2 pancake options and a selection of eggs made in different ways with extra toppings. This cafe is placed in Queen’s Arcade with both indoor and outdoor seating too. It is quite popular but if there’s a queue, you won’t be waiting too long.

3. Fettle

This cafe is located on Great George Street where there are a row of coffee shops and cute small restaurants to pick from. This is the most popular one on the street that I have come across as everyone knows about it. With that in mind you might want to pay a visit when it is quiet to avoid waiting as I had to wait around 20 minutes. It is really close to the university of Leeds, not too far from the edge so it’s a popular spot for uni students. There’s a range of food from baked goods, breakfast, lunch, and dinner with hot drinks and alcohol on offer.

4. La Chalet

La Chalet is a French restaurant and tea room which is popular for their afternoon tea with their cute decor and sweet treats. There’s an amazing tea collection with a variety of flavours to pick from. We ordered french toast, pancakes and eggs benedict which satisfied our brunch cravings. Also make sure to try out the salted caramel tea!

5. Episode One

Lastly, this is the most recent cafe I visited to study at before my exams and it’s the perfect place to grab a coffee and study. This is another cafe on Great George Street, it’s more quiet and cosy compared to Fettle. There’s a choice of breakfast options to choose from so check out their instagram for more pics.
