What to Know About the Women Running for President

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Rollins chapter.

It’s hard not to go into the 2020 pre-election season with a queesy feeling of impending doom on the female race- however, this year a record number of fierce senators and congresswomen are stepping up to give a voice to all of us, during a presidential era that has taken our voices away. Why are all of these women democrats? Will Trump’s already sleek and running campaign prep put him ahead for another term, regardless of the feminist dream? We’re going to spotlight three inspiring women who are hopeful to make it to the primaries:

Kirsten Gillibrand is a former conservative and congresswoman who has used her voice in the senate to become one of the most influential liberals amidst Trump’s administration. She’s focused on bettering the lives of American children and families, prioritizing women’s equality as well.

Marianne Williamson is a 66 year-old self-help author with a passion for gay rights and raising money for AIDS.  She’s proposed a $10 billion plan for educational projects for reparations from slavery.

Elizabeth Warren, Massachussets senator and Harvard professor is focused on policy reform against income inequality and is passionate about closing the gap between the middle class and the powerful rich.

Actively voting is important as it is, but your decision is much more impactful when you form your own relationship with the candidates fighting for the same issues you care about. There’s a lot of damaged to be repaired in our country, which is why it’s more crucial than ever to keep up- you never know which one of these people could be your future president.
