Everything We Need to Know about the Cinderella remake starring Camila Cabello!

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Fairfield chapter.

Camila Cabello is going to be walking a mile in a new pair of shoes (which happen to be made out of glass!) One of our favorite rising singer-songwriters will be making her feature film debut as one of the most iconic princesses of all time, Cinderella.

This re-imagined telling of one of the most timeless fairy tales is currently on the fast track for production.  Grammy-nominated Cabello will not only be playing the lead role, but she is also playing a huge part in the production of the music for the film as well. We are positive the

soundtrack will be on repeat for days once it’s  released! After watching her Telenovela themed music video for Havana for a sneak peak of her acting skills, we have high hopes that she is going to make a great Cinderella.

Cabello is not the only star name that can be found in the production team, as James Corden and his partner from Fulwell73, Leo Pearlman, are producing the film.  The whole idea for the remake of yet another Disney classic came from Corden himself, so thank you very much James for gifting us with another one of our childhood favorites. Kay Cannon, who was known for directing Blockers and writing Pitch Perfect 3, is set to write and direct the film for Sony.

Cinderella was most recently re-made by Disney in 2015, which featured Cate Blanchett, Lily James, and Helena Bonham Carter.  However, following the feminist forward adaptation of Beauty and the Beast in 2017 which starred Emma Watson, we can hope that this film will also evolve into a similar cultural moment to accompany the other recent Disney live-action remakes.
