5 Trendy Boston Restaurants to Spice Up Your Restaurant Culture

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at BU chapter.

Food is great but tastes even better when you’re eating it in a cool-looking restaurant. Boston has all the spots to check out for the perfect combo of artsy Instagram aesthetic and mouth-watering meals!

Buttermilk & Bourbon

Buttermilk & Bourbon puts a modern twist on Cajun-style cuisine. They have incredible fried chicken and delicious biscuits that will put you in a food coma. I didn’t have a chance to try their oysters, but they looked so tempting. They even have fried oysters, still in the shell! And the inside décor creates a low, light lounge feel.

Mei Mei

I stumbled upon Mei Mei with one of my friends last year. It’s tucked away near BU’s South Campus and is pretty small inside. The size, however, does not fairly represent how big the flavors it’s packing. From smoked haddock fritters to parsnip fries, these small plates play perfectly into the white, airy feel of this Asian restaurant. The inside décor is blue and white and simply put, looks clean and inviting.

Tiger Mama

Tiger Mama shares the trend of modern appearance through catchy neon phrases. This time, they do it based on their Asian-fusion style food. The red and orange tones create a super fun dining experience that almost feels like you’re in a tropical jungle! And don’t even get me started on how amazing the Crispy Pork Rips are.

Citrus & Salt

As anyone can tell from their Instagram, Citrus & Salt does not disappoint with their aesthetic. It’s the perfect place if you’re looking for a restaurant for its picture value. With its famous bathroom mirrors with the words “I didn’t text you, tequila did.” Sprawled across them, Citrus & Salt has endless photo ops. The Mexican style menu features Grilled Street Corn with hot Cheetos on top and Lobster Tostada—just some of the delicious tapas to try.

Sportello

Sportello is a trendy restaurant that is still on the fancy side. The white interior with circle lights extending down from the ceiling creates a sleek interior that’s perfect for a nice dinner. They put a modern twist on Italian food. I highly recommend the Crostini for an appetizer and the Tortellini pasta for a main dish.

All of these dining destinations are expertly made for snapping pictures all night, but also enjoying a delicious meal!
