4 Boba Places Near UH Manoa You Should Definitely Try

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Hawaii chapter.

Looking for a boba place to get your boba fix or you just want to try something new? If you live in the dorms or just looking for a quick boba fix between classes, here are four boba places near the University of Hawaii at Manoa campus that are worth the visit! Let’s get this boba y’all!

Taste Tea

Taste Tea… tasty…get it? This punny milk tea place is known for its winter boba (clear/white boba pearls) and seasonal flavored drinks like Warm Ginger Milk Tea and Winter Drink. It’s also cool that they have options for big or small boba. One of their best sellers is Fruity Pebbles milk tea. It’s sweet, fruity and cereal-y (is this even a real term?) but my personal favorite is their taro milk tea that you should definitely try!

Location: Ala Moana, 1430 Kona St, Honolulu, HI 96814

Wen’s Tea

If you want to try something new, definitely check out Wen’s Tea’s cheese drinks! They have fruit shake drinks with cheese foam on top of it. If you’re not a fruit person, you can still try their cheese cap by adding it to your drink for an extra charge. If it’s your first time to try a cheese milk tea, it’s best to not use the straw at first and drink the cheese and tea/fruit shake at the same time! I usually order their Wintermelon Black Milk Tea, of course, with the cheese cap.

Location: 661 Keeaumoku St, Unit 105 B, Honolulu, HI 96814

Shaka Shaka Tea Express

One of the closest boba places to UH Manoa, Shaka Shaka Tea Express has the best-tasting boba pearls ever. It’s soft and chewy rather than the tough one we were all used to. They also have fresh fruit smoothies with seasonal fruits. You can order it mixed with black, green or oolong tea, smoothie or just as plain juice!

Location: 2600 S King St, Suite 101, Honolulu, HI 96826

Mr. Tea Cafe

Okay, I know I said boba like boba pearls but let’s try something new! How about substituting boba pearls with lychee jelly? Mr. Tea Cafe is known for its unique add-ons other than the boba pearls. If you’re feeling curious, you should definitely try their aloe topping!

Location: Ala Moana Center, 1450 Ala Moana Blvd, Ste 1063, Honolulu, HI 96814
