Hello! This article is going to revolve around my view on greek life and what I learned from going through recruitment. It is an opinion based article and it addresses major areas that stood out to me through my expierence.
Finding out about recruitment:
Since my freshman year of High School I’ve wanted to go greek. I loved the whole dynamic of gaining a support system of strong independent women that will help me grow. When choosing a college to attend it was very important to me that there was greek life on campus. I was ecstatic to find out that the school I loved had greek life on campus!

Recruitment at a small school:
Attending a small school like ULV has many differences in comparison to a large school. Typically recruitment is a week long event but since it’s a small school is shortened. It’s a total of three days along with extra events that we can go to in order to get to know all the organizations a little bit better. Getting to know all the orgs was very important to me so it was a lot of fun going out to talk to everyone! Having a basic knowledge of the orgs on your campus is super important in conversation and just in general when picking where you want to go back at the end of the day.
What I learned:
All the organizations were amazing and in the end it was a difficult choice when choosing who I matched with the best. I saw myself growing in different ways in each org and found a whole new love for why I support greek life. In the end, I walked out of recruitment feeling like a completely different person than when I walked in. Even if you end up deciding greek life isn’t for you, it is an amazing way to get out of your comfort zone and talk to other women on campus!
My advice and final thoughts:
Deciding to go through recruitment is a huge decision. I chose to rush because it was a whole new experience and allowed me to push myself out of my comfort zone. I’ve grown so much within the small time I’ve been in chapter and I am thrilled to be apart of a great organization. Some of the girls who end up going through recruitment never expected to rush let alone join a sorority. Put yourself out there and you might end up growing in new ways you never thought was possible!
