To My Best Friends from College,

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UNH chapter.

Hey Y’all

I can’t believe it has already been an entire school year at college. Just like that, the first year up and done with! As we adventure off into the summer, my heart aches. I know, I know, que all the ‘we will be coming back before we know it’ and  ‘it’s not a goodbye, it’s a see you later’. I know, I have heard it all as tears still come down my cheek thinking about leaving the people who I have made so many unforgettable memories for more than a month, let alone 3. Like they say, college is different than high school, and the friends you find at college are friends for a lifetime.

To my girls,

I honestly would not be still here without you guys. This year has had some big ups and downs for all of us, and instead of ignoring them, we all came to the rescue. Whether it meant we stayed inside and all sat on one person’s bed while we all cried together about stupid classes or boys, or we went out and danced our butts off and forgot every little worry in the world. You guys helped me through some of the hardest emotional times I have been through, and while I strive to be the best I can be, moving my mountains, you are all there, cheering me on. I could not have asked for a better group of people who I can call family. The group of girls I have found in college, will be my bridesmaids at my wedding. I have never laughed, cried, sang, danced, or enjoyed life harder than I ever have with you guys. Thank you for being my best friends, my hype woman, my girlfriends, my everything.

To my guys,

Well if I wasn’t already crying about my girls, I’ll definitely cry for my boys. Like they say, Saturday is for the boys, and you guys are hands down the most fun people to be around.  Here’s to the nights where I found myself staying up until 2:00, 3:00, sometimes even 4:00 in the morning, just hanging with you guys. To kings, the bird, and of course the bucket. The times we won’t speak of walking back from the Gables because they are too funny. From the railroad tracks, to our bonfires. From running down Main Street for the superbowl win, to the “Quiet Dorm”. Or the time we went to Smuggs and found ourselves lost in the glades, not worried, not scared, just laughing our butts off. You are the type of people I want to keep forever. Thank you all, for being my boy version of my girlfriends, if that makes any sense. Can’t wait to rock it with you all next year.

Finishing my first year of college is like a bittersweet feeling, ya know? It’s the feeling of accomplishment and being proud of myself, with the mix of emotions of being so unbelievably thankful for all of the people I have here in Durham, who I now have for a lifetime. As many words as I have written here, there will never be enough to describe how much you all mean to me. So, I’ll catch you this summer, doing the dumb, fun things we do, and let’s get after it next year and make more memories.
