Hello beautiful people! I thought that I would begin my time as Campus Cutie by interviewing the person that I know best: myself. I hope to use my time as Campus Cutie editor to showcase badass and inspiring people on Emory’s campus, and in the words of Leslie Knope, “I am not ashamed to say I am often inspired by myself.” So without further ado, here is a condensed version of all that you might ever want to know about me!
Name: Delaney Sheldon
Year: Junior
Major: English and Religion
Campus Involvement: Her Campus, Praxis Feminist Leadership Board, Theater Emory, PAWsitive Outreach, Orientation Leader, Phi Eta Sigma
Q: What activity makes you feel most yourself?
I’ve always felt the most alive when I’m performing, whether it be for a small group of people or a huge audience. There is something about letting go, and totally committing to a role that makes me feel very myself. On the other hand, I also love the times when it’s just my dog and me curled up on the couch having Hozier calm me with his beautiful voice.
Q: Favorite hot beverage?
Earl grey tea or hot chocolate
Q: What empowers you most on this campus?
I’m honestly empowered by how passionate people are on Emory’s campus, both in academics and extracurriculars. The reason there are so many organizations is because people love their hobbies and identities so much, and want to share them with others. It makes me feel empowered to know that people are so motivated and committed to pursuing what they love and gives me the confidence to know I can do the same.
Q: What is one thing you recommend every Emory student do at least once?
Take some kind of dance class! I took Social Dance on a whim, and it was one of my favorite classes I’ve ever taken. I feel like dance classes just really force you to let go of your inhibitions and learn more about yourself in a way we don’t normally get to.
Q: Favorite underrated tv show?
Pushing Daisies! It was canceled after two seasons but it’s so aesthetically pleasing, and overall just a hidden gem.
Q: Who are the most influential women in your life?
My mom is one of my biggest inspirations. She has sacrificed so much for my siblings and me and continually shows me what hard work means. Nowadays I’m also especially inspired by all of the powerful female politicians we have, like AOC and Nancy Pelosi, who reminds us all what it means to be a badass woman.
