On a daily basis, there are times when I may misplace my phone, keys or even my wallet. During those short, panic-stricken moments I result to retracing my steps in order to find the missing item. Often the “missing” item is in plain sight, and I’ve been completely oblivious to it. Among the other items that can be lost is your VSU 1Card, the card that grants you access to virtually everything. Whether it be a swipe into Palms, your residence hall, a meal swipe at Chick-Fil-A or sporting events. Listed below are four simple steps to follow if you happen to lose your card.

1.      Deactivate your card immediately by going to the VSU 1Card Online Office. VSU holds you responsible for any transactions made with your card if it has not been properly reported.

2.     Check your VSU email for any messages from the 1Card Services Office. Students are notified by email if a 1Card was turned in to their possession. This will definitely save you a trip to the University Center.

3.     If you or your friends have social media, Twitter or VSU Facebook groups are a great way to find a missing card. Other students make posts if they have found a missing 1Card.

4.     If all else fails, retrace your steps. Or wait a few days, and your card may turn up. As broke college students, we have to avoid that twenty dollar replacement fee.
