Beauty Brands to Help You Go Vegan or Cruelty-Free

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at BU chapter.

Going vegan can be a difficult choice to make. Many companies test on animals or use harmful chemicals that aren’t necessarily safe for your skin. If you are considering making the shift to being completely vegan or cruelty-free, there are options out there! To get you started, here is a list of a few essential products that are well worth the money.

Ella+Mila Nail Polish

This nail polish brand has a wide variety of colors to choose from. Not only is Ella+Mila cruelty-free, it is also VEGAN (huge plus). Many nail polish brands have harsh chemicals that are unhealthy for your nails. Instead of giving in to the other brands, check out Ella+Mila’s nail colors!

Lush

Lush has long been a supporter of anti-cruelty practices. They don’t test any of their products on animals and proudly advocate against it. All of their products are 100% cruelty-free and handmade. They have everything from bath bombs to candles. Try it out and you won’t regret it!

Wet n Wild

This brand does not test on animals and is extremely affordable. They sell all different types of makeup products. I have two of their highlighters and I live by them. They can be found in almost all drugstores and Target!

Yes To Carrots

This skincare brand sells products that use very few ingredients. They sell skincare products such as makeup remover, moisturizer, face wash and more. My favorite product is their Say Yes To Cucumbers Facial Towelettes which are good for removing oil, residue, and leftover makeup. Say yes to this brand!

TOMS of Maine

This brand has several products that are worth purchasing. They have all-natural deodorant, toothpaste, and plenty more. I love their products because I know they have very few ingredients and they are all completely natural.

Drunk Elephant

While this brand can be on the expensive side, this company is completely cruelty-free and even has some vegan options. Their products are unreal. One of my favorite products is the D-Bronzi™ Anti-Pollution Sunshine Drops. If you are willing to invest, this brand is well worth it!

When it comes to beauty, we have to be incredibly careful with the ingredients that we are putting on our skin. Before buying a product, take a look at the ingredients and keep in mind the key considerations and pros of going cruelty-free and/or vegan with your routine.
