In the bustling borough of the Bronx, it’s often hard to find a place to quietly do your homework while enjoying food. I’m a real advocate for taking time to venture off campus and get away from the stresses of a college campus. Recently, I found a place that helps me do just that. On 238th and Broadway there is a cafe called Mon Amour. My friend recently took me there before school started and I’ve gone back at least three times a week since. They serve paninis, flatbreads, pizzas, baked goods and have an awesome brunch  menu. Mon Amour also offers a wide range of drinks, from smoothies to teas they have it all. I personally crave the chicken panini; it has chicken, prosciutto, mozzarella, sun dried tomatoes, and pesto. Before that, I get a strawberry smoothie which tastes like my childhood nesquik strawberry milk. Sometimes, I get a chamomile tea which definitely is tasty but also relaxing.

They also have a wide range of pizzas with the most flavorful toppings. I haven’t really found a place this easy to rave about and I’ve lived here my whole life. The serving sizes are perfect, not too much and not too little. Each panini comes with a little bowl of kettle chips. For all those who are over 21, the cafe transforms into a wine bar at night. Although I’ve never been there during those hours, I hear the music and conversation is amazing.

My favorite part about Mon Amour is the music and relaxing aurora the cafe brings. When you walk in on a summer day, the temperature is so refreshing. You usually seat yourself and everytime I’ve gone, there was always a table available. My recommended time to go would be midday, around 11am to 2pm during weekdays. At the counter, you can see all types of tasty baked goods like macaroons, bagels, breads, croissants and muffins. You are always welcomed to get the food to go but I always love to stay and watch the news there or sit and chat with a friend. It honestly looks like a room out of your favorite pinterest board. It has more of a night in paris theme. The booths are a plush velvet; I could sit there all day. The staff is always so sweet and not overbearing.

Your food always comes out in reasonable timing. Overall, I’d give Mon Amour cafe an A+ rating, especially for it’s homey ambience. As a college student, I’m always looking for good food that won’t hurt my bank account. Mon Amour does just that. Most of the options on the menu don’t exceed 10 dollars, making it affordable and delicious.
