Looking for something fun, and exciting to do in the Philadelphia area this week? Instead of lying in bed bored, googling what fun things there are to do, here’s your quick guide for four awesome things you could be doing during the week (and most events I mention will be running throughout the season)! I’m here to give you a couple of helpful tips of where you should venture out to next because there’s simply never a dull moment in Philadelphia!

The new Fashion District of Philadelphia

The mall that spans from 8th to 11th Street and from Market to Filbert Street just had their grand opening on September 19. The mall is conveniently located and offers a wide variety of stores including Ulta, Nike and Levi’s. Totally check out them out and see what bargains you can find.

Eastern State Penitentiary

Ready for spooky season? Eastern State has officially opened its yearly “Terror Behind the Walls” trail through the haunted prison, which will be open all Halloween szn. Get into the Halloween spirit with friends by taking a trip to Eastern State’s haunted house. Experience the terror of walking through six different attractions, all guaranteed to make you scared.

Spruce Street Harbor Park

Everyone knows how cute and quaint Old City is, but not a lot of people know about the beauty that Spruce Street Harbor Park has to offer. This cute area located near Penn’s Landing has cute hammocks and tasty food stands. You get a great view of the water and city skyline. Not to mention, the iconic Ben Franklin bridge. The best part is at night, when the trees are lit up with colorful fairy lights and lanterns. Perfect for a ~fall date~ or a cute Instagram.

First day in Old City

On October 4 (TOMORROW!!), walk through the streets of Old City to experience many different art galleries and delicious food. On the first Friday of every month, Old City shops stay open late, and there are live bands, plus fun pop-up boutiques.

These are just some things to check out if you’re looking for something to do during the first week of October. I don’t think it’s possible to be bored in Philadelphia because there are always new things to see and do! There’s never a dull moment, especially when it comes to art and entertainment. Simply taking a walk with friends through the streets of Fishtown or Center City can result in an adventure, especially when you discover hidden artwork or a cool new coffee shop (my favorite). One of the things I like doing the most with friends is taking the Septa, getting off at a random place and then exploring the area. My friends and I did this in Fishtown and found cool murals to take Instagram photos in front of. I think it’s fun not knowing what you’ll find, and it’s always how you make the best memories.
