Winter is Coming. Prepare Yourself “Laramie Style”

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at U Wyoming chapter.

As I am sure many of you know, once winter in Wyoming starts, it doesn’t stop. Tomorrow the forecast is predicting a high of 20 degrees fahrenheit and a low of 5 degrees. Say goodbye to those sandals and bring out the boots. Winter is here, and it is here to stay.

Laramie is known for its aggressive winters. It is best to prepare accordingly.

1. Winter hats

Winter hats are a MUST when you live in Laramie. Your hair will freeze if it has the slightest bit of water in it and you can say goodbye to your ears if they aren’t covered.

2. Non-slip shoes

For whatever reason, the walkways on campus get extremely slippery even when they are just wet. Now imagine them covered in ice and snow… it’s a disaster waiting to happen. I recommend finding a good pair of non-slip shoes and never letting them go.

3. Waterproof, windproof, snow-proof jacket

An absolute must. You do not want to be caught outside with just a sweater.

Tomorrow will be the perfect day to break out the hats, boots, and jackets. Take this day as a trial run. If you need warmer gear, find some before the next below freezing day!
