Everyone loves California for the beautiful summers and year-round good weather, and LA is the prime place for having fun in the sun! However, for us oily girls, the heat leaves us feeling not-so-cute after only a few hours. From one girl to another, here are my top 5 beauty products to enjoy the sunshine while making sure your face doesn’t shine!
Mario Badescu Silver Powder ($12)
The first step in any makeup routine is skincare, and this is my favorite product I’ve ever tried for big pores and/or oily skin. Use a damp cotton ball or pad to pick up some of the powder and tap it onto your t-zone. Leave it on for a few minutes, rinse it off, and voila! Your pores will look small, smooth, and shine-free for the rest of the day! If I had to choose between using this, primer, or setting spray, I would choose this powder (and a little goes a long way!).
Cetaphil DermaControl Oil Control Moisturizer SPF 30 ($13.29)
You may think that adding more moisture to an oily face will make it even more oily, however, excess sebum production comes from an imbalance in the skin’s pH levels. This means that the skin actually isn’t getting enough moisture, so your pores are producing more oil to make up for it! That means that every oily girl needs a good moisturizer. I’ve used this one from cetaphil for years, and love it because it is not only formulated for oily skin, but acts as a 2 in 1 product with SPF 30 as well! Sunscreen is a necessity for protecting our skin in these hot months, so why spend more money when you can buy one product that does it all?
L’Oréal Infallible Pro-Matte Liquid Longwear Foundation ($12.99)
A good base is key to keeping your face looking fresh all day long, and this foundation has you covered! With medium, buildable coverage and a matte finish, this foundation will keep your oil locked in. Not to mention this product claims to last 24 hours, meaning it stays on even through the harsh heat. Though I don’t recommend wearing makeup for 24 hours straight, I have accidentally tested this claim (yay all nighters!) and my makeup was still on with only minor touch-ups throughout the day! This foundation comes in 22 shades, so you are sure to find the right one for you!
Coty Airspun Loose Face Powder ($5.39)
No matter what foundation you use, it is ESSENTIAL to set your face if you have oily skin! This will make sure your makeup doesn’t budge and give your skin a flawless finish. This product not only smells delicious but lasts you forever. I’ve used this powder for at least half a year and still have a bunch left, and for only $5 it is an absolute steal! Even famous beauty gurus like Tati Westbrook and James Charles have raved about this product. I like to use this powder to bake my face (applying a lot of powder and letting it sit for a few minutes before wiping off the excess with a brush!) using my beauty sponge to deposit the powder on my t-zone or anywhere I get oily. I use the excess left on the sponge to press the powder into my face for flawless makeup all day long!
Not Your Mother’s Clean Freak Dry Shampoo ($2.99)
Wait…a hair product? Yep, last but certainly not least on this list – dry shampoo! I’m amazed at how many people I’ve talked to that haven’t tried dry shampoo! Whether or not you have oily skin, everyone’s hair is impacted by the harsh summer heat. Whether you’re tired of washing your hair every single day after it gets oily just from walking to U-hall or if you just need a quick refresh before going out for the night, this product has you covered! Just spray it a few inches away from your hair, shake it out, and your hair will be looking like you just washed and dried it in seconds! Dry shampoo is a lazy girl’s best friend, but in my opinion, it should be everyone’s best friend!
