Fall is FINALLY here in Iowa City! With this comes the sweater weather we’ve all been waiting for, along with the ideal fall aesthetic: Pumpkin Spice everything, autumnal colors, fall fashion, and football. If you’re like me, you love all of these things, but there’s only one dilemma: What in the world do you wear to a tailgate when the weather starts getting chilly? Don’t worry girl, we’ve got your back! Below are 5 ways to stay warm while still showing your Hawkeye pride!

Who says that just because it’s cold you have to stop repping your favorite Hawkeye? Don’t get me wrong, I love wearing my oversized jersey as a dress when it’s warm out, but when it gets cold I use layers to my advantage and put a neutral colored long sleeve underneath. Pair with your favorite bottoms and tailgate friendly shoes and you’re good to go!
TIP: Add a belt and front tuck the jersey to spice up your look!

Bibs are a super cute way to show your school spirit while still keeping warm. I usually style mine with a cropped long sleeve tee or a sweatshirt underneath, and then complete the look with my Timberland boots, Converse, or Doc Martens! You can also accessorize with a beanie!
TIP: When it’s extra cold it’s super easy to layer leggings underneath!

One of my favorite ways to do this is by putting on a flannel over literally anything, whether that be a sweatshirt, long sleeve, tee, tank, or tube top!

One of my favorite ways to spice up my look when it’s cold out is through my choice in bottoms. I’ve been loving plaid/gingham print lately especially for tailgates! Fun pants are easy to style and they can make an otherwise plain outfit unique and 100% fab!

For those tailgates that are just so unbearably cold (I’m looking at you, Parent’s Weekend), we all have to remember that comfy can still be cute! Any type of hoodie, sweatshirt, quarter zip, or jacket that shows your Hawkeye pride can look just as cute as anything you would wear in the summer months. Just pair them with some cute bottoms and shoes and you’re good to go!
It’s so easy to let the cold weather get to you and drag down your fashion game, but just remember that as long as you feel confident, the temperature could be plummeting into the negatives and you’ll still be looking hot as a flame.
